Purpose
The Case Profile allows you to save and organize important case-specific medical data and records. On Pattern, the Profile is typically our clients' single most valuable work product. The Profile is configured by litigation and can be updated over time (please contact Pattern support to discuss updating any of your criteria). The completed profiles are then used to:
- Create summaries of cases with supporting evidence as exhibits
- Thoroughly analyze and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the cases
- Help produce work product, such as fact sheets and profile forms
While objectives may differ from client-to-client, the best practice is to complete the entire Case Profile during the review to eliminate future rework. Click play to watch the video walkthrough, or continue down below for the text guide.
How to Get There
The "Profile" is available in every case. You can navigate to it by selecting the "Start Reviewing" button to the right of Case Info:

Profile Layout and Actions
The Profile is comprised of two sections:
- Outline: serves as a table of contents for the Profile Questions. Select any of the questions in the table and you will be brought to that question.
- Profile Questions: case-specific questions for you to answer. This is the place that will store the medical data and the corresponding link to the evidence.
Outline and Profile Questions within Profile
There are two actions that you can take within the Profile: viewing evidence and editing profile answers.
View Evidence
Each Profile question includes a Lightbulb that links to evidence related to the question. The Lightbulb will be blue if there is evidence related to the question. The Lightbulb will be grey if Pattern did not identify evidence related to the question.
Below is an example of the lightbulb in the on position. To view the evidence, click on the Lightbulb. This will take you to Review with the evidence pre-filtered to the Profile question.

Here you'll note the lightbulb is in the off position. This tells us that Pattern did not identify evidence related to the Profile question.

Edit Profile Answers
To edit the answers to the Profile question, click on the Pencil in the right-hand corner:
Profile Question Edit Button
After you click the Pencil, you will be able to answer the question "Yes" or "No". The "Yes" answer will make the additional medical data available for input.
Profile Question Editor
Some questions will allow you to add multiple records in the same response. This is helpful, for example, if your case has multiple injuries that should be recorded.
